frenchie puppy sitting in chair

A once in a dog's lifetime experience.

You’ve probably never done this before, and may never do it again. You don’t need to know exactly what you want, that's all part of the process. Show up loving your dog, I'll guide the rest.

part 1:

the session

Before I shoot a single frame, we’ll talk a bit about you, your dog, and what we’re trying to create together. Then, I’ll get to work. This happens on dog time, not by the clock. Slowing down (or speeding up) to see your dog for everything they are, whatever they bring.

Where and how we capture the images is up to you (and your dog). Just be prepared to have way more fun than you'd expect. Dogs are kind of magical like that.

No two dogs - or sessions - are alike, so it’s hard to say exactly what happens next. But it’s always some combination of dog improv, bottomless patience, and just letting dogs be dogs. Oh, and cookies. Lots of cookies.

When I'm satisfied with what I've captured and thoroughly covered in fur, we'll move from taking photographs to making them. Next up...

part 2:

the images

After your dog’s session, we’ll review raw proofs (unedited files) of your images. A digital camera with a fast frame rate lets me shoot generously, so I’ll need a minute to pull the strongest ones. For standard sessions, this is typically ~45.

I'll walk you through a simple process of selecting your absolute favorites. We'll look at examples of fully edited images and start building your order. One big canvas? Set of matted prints? Digital display? You'll be able to see and handle studio samples before making any decisions about what to bring home.

With images selected and products chosen, we'll finalize your order, lint brush our pants and say good-bye. You'll leave even more enamored with your dog than when you first walked in. And I'll get to work on...

part 3:

production

This is the longest part of the entire process. And one nobody ever sees.

After you leave, I put on my perfectionist hat and edit each image by hand, down to the pixel. Color-correcting. Retouching. Refining. Preparing for print or digital display. Step by step, your images go from proof to finished artwork.

Then it's off to the printer and directly to you. Ready to hang, hold, frame, or share.
